Notice: Crazy Horse Temporarily Closed

The well-known Crazy Horse Buttress in Chiang Mai has been closed for the time being, and any climbing there whilst the closure is in effect will be in violation of the law. According to a recent announcement, the closure is due to ongoing investigations in regards to claims that climbing there has a detrimental effect on the environment. The closure has taken effect since the beginning of August 2018 and will remain in effect until further notice.

Update: Suunto Movescount

Movescount, Suunto's popular web platform, has been given a completely new look today, a face-lift that I feel has been long overdue. The Movescount interface has remained relatively unchanged since I started using Suunto devices four years ago, and the interface has become ingrained into my consciousness considering all training data of all Suunto devices (except for their dive computers as they go through the Suunto DM5 software) has to be stored on this web platform. Notice: Deep Water Solo (DWS) Banned in Railay

Having just returned home from my annual climbing trip to one of the world's best climbing spots, Railay, I found, to my dismay, that all Deep Water Soloing (DWS) had recently been banned! DWS is a thrilling way of climbing that entails free climbing (without a rope and harness) up a cliff and jumping or falling off the rock into the deep water that lies below! Read more

Notice: Irau Hiking Trail Reopened

The renowned Mount Irau is the highest mountain in Cameron Highlands, and with an elevation of 2110m makes it just slightly higher than Mount Brinchang. It is the 15th highest mountain in Malaysia and lies on the border between the states of Perak and Pahang. The mountain has had its access sealed off for rehabilitation purposes since the 1st of October 2015, and as of the 1st of April 2016, is finally open to the public once again. Read more
